The City of Gulfport was established 1910 and is located between St Petersburg and St Pete Beach on Boca Ciega Bay. The population is about 13,000 residents. The Casino on the beach, now owned by the City of Gulfport offers dancing numerous days during the week and also is available to lease for weddings and other events.The Catherine Hickman Theater hosts concerts and theater productions. Gulfport has an eclectic mix of homes in its artsy waterfront district and also is home to Pasadena Yacht and Country Club, an exclusive gated waterfront/golf course community. Stetson Law School is located in Gulfport. Gulfport offers historic buildings, trendy shops, lots of art an a free trolley ride.
Every Tuesday from 9 AM - 3 PM is a delightful fun filled Fresh Market festival of foods, plants and crafts offered at stands along Beach Blvd where you can stroll along the sidewalks, listen to music, and purchase fresh fruits, vegetables, breads, cheeses, seafood and much more.
2010 is the 100th birthday of Gulfport, the "Gateway to the Gulf" and they are turning up the Florida old world charm for this event. The Gulfport Art Walk offers an opportunity to view the works of more than 50 local artists, watch them work and purchase their items.
